We sat down with Sam Schulte from Tree Bikes on the the final day of Interbike 2012 to talk about the history of the brand and their plans for the future. Topics covered:
- Sam runs through some of Tree’s new products
- We talk about why Tree stopped making frames and their recent team additions
- Derek Nelson
- I ask Sam about learning to be a businessman (as opposed to just being a BMX rider and an artist) over the years in order to keep Tree afloat
- Sam talks about the switch from American made to Taiwanese manufacturing
- We discuss the legendary Tree sprocket and it’s long history
- We talk more about the challenges in running a BMX company
- I talk a little about how getting Alfredo involved changed The Come Up and opened the doors for us to grow and get better
