Freed Bikes announced the addition of DeMarcus Paul to their team today. You might remember him from the how to tooth hop over we did last month and it’d do you good to click on his name and check out some of his recent edits. DeMarcus has been low-key killing it for awhile and it’s good to see a company take notice!
Earlier this week our dude Frenchie was out on Barcelona on a We Are Orange Juice trip and almost got into an altercation with a group of locals, including pro skater Jesus Fernandez, at the famous MACBA museum. It just so happened that the Ride Channel was following Jesus around that day and included some of what went down in their coverage of XGames. Instead of it coming to a fight, Jesus* Daniel Lebron pulls the ultimate bitch move and gets security to kick the group of riders out. I’ve heard of some crazy shit skaters have done to keep bikes out of “their parks” and “their spots”, but I could never imagine actually alerting the people we’re all trying to avoid and having them kick someone out of a spot. What would you do in this situation? Would you call security on a group of dudes on scooters or rollerblades?
*Update: The dude who actually called security is Daniel Lebron, not Jesus Fernandez. And in a strange twist, Daniel actually apologized! Frenchie sent this thru earlier today:
“@frenchiebmx@stijnstaal Hey i apolozagi what happen..these guy made the video is stupid for making it..i have friends that bike too..just o saw you guys having an argument with my friends when i came..dont have nothing against bikers.. Sorry for the missunderstand”
This was also spotted on Daniel Lebron’s twitter feed:
Alienation encourages you to ride your bike instead of hammering on it with this video showing the simple adjustment process of their Rush V2 freecoaster.
“Striving for innovation means making life simpler. When we took on the idea of a freecoaster hub we knew the beast we were up against. For years people have thrown aside the idea of going backwards really fast due to the constant maintenance and shortcomings that previous freecoaster hubs had been known for. Using the best technology available, Alienation developed a smooth rolling hub that actually gives the rider personal adjustment without having to completely take the hub apart. Check out this video to see what we are talking about and if you are feeling burned out on your current set up, give this hub a try!”
These hubs are available now from your local bike shop or Dan’s Comp.
Jackson Allen reps and rips for FBM out in Santa Cruz, California and put together this edit of a bunch of stuff he’s filmed so far this year. There’s a little bit of everything in here from dirt to street, including a few setups that might give you a good ol case of spot envy. Who wouldn’t want to ride a dirt jump on a bluff overlooking the ocean?
Every team needs a few street guys, a park guy, a dirt guy and in 2013 you gotta have a dude with some wild hair. United fills the hair quota with the addition of 18 year old shredder Harry Mills-Wakley to their UK flow team. For his welcome video, Harry comes through with a solid baker’s dozen-esque edit at the 4Down ramps. Learn a little more about Harry on his team page over on unitedbikeco.com
Big Daddy hit up Long Beach’s MLK park with a good crew for the latest edition of Calling The Shots. Shots called in this video include: one handed ice down a rail, one footed ice down a rail, feeble manual whip, half bar tooth hanger to half bar, backwards Derekduster down a hand rail and a smith to bar up a rail. Check the video to see what he pulls and see what he dies on!
Check out Taylor Elvy laying down a bunch of dope clips for MacNeil‘s new Connect cranks. If this promo is any indication, putting these on your bike will have you doing huge crooks and grinding over and across trash cans in no time.
“Taylor Elvy helps us introduce our new Connect cranks and puts them through their paces in this new edit. These new cranks are beefy in all the right places with investment cast pedal and spindle bosses, a gun drilled hollow 22mm spindle with 48 splines, a slideable box-style arm design, and only weigh in at 28.8 oz. Check out the video above, and you can get more info on the new cranks in the flip book we made right here.”
Damn, Matt Priest kills it in this new edit from a few parks in the UK. Huge transfers, fast manual lines and a boatload of style make this a must-watch.

Chris Doyle likes what he likes and keeps it pretty consistent as far as bike setup go. Get a look at Kink‘s Mud Runner frame (due this summer) decked out with all Demolition, Duo and Rockstar Energy parts; the perfect bike for someone who rides everything from trails to rails.
Damn, this is amazing. Props just released the trailer for the complete Road Fools box set they’ve been working on the past year or so. Chris Rye really went all out for this project; it includes Road Fools 1-18, both Rock’n tours, the best of Road Fools 1-4, interviews with the Road Fools 1 crew and a commentary with Taj, Sandy Carson, Dave Freimuth and himself that I can’t wait to hear. 15 years of BMX history for a mere $80. Pre-ordering just opened up at roadfools.com/order, so go ahead and pull out your credit card. If you still need some convincing, check out the full list of features after the jump. If there isn’t a Villicus Prime on the wall or Power Pegs in a glass case at your local bike shop, that might be changing soon. Subrosa announced today that QBMX is now distributing their full range of products and will be available for bike shops to begin ordering next month. So if your local shop isn’t BMX-only, but can still get stuff from QBP, you can have them get Subrosa stuff for you. Check out what Ryan Sher and QBP had to say after the jump. Continue reading →
Rob Wise has always been a beast in the streets and the latest proof comes in the form of this new edit for GT. He seriously finds a good line at every spot in this and almost makes it a point to shut down that strip mall. Shoutout to filmer/editor Charles Fallon too. This came together really well; good song, good edit and a ton of bangin clips.
The folks at Diamondback are hooking one lucky Facebook fan up with a Ben Hucke signature Nightseeker frame. All you’ve gotta do to be that guy is like their page and share this photo, easy as that.
A couple months ago Sergio checked in with Fly Bikes to talk about coming back from the broken leg he suffered last year and today we get a good look at exactly what he’s been up to courtesy of Red Bull. Awesome to see some fresh riding footage and pretty interesting to hear that he tried keep himself away from BMX altogether while recovering, instead concentrating on building his strength back up through other activities like running and motocross. It’ll be good to see Sergio back at it this weekend at XGames Barcelona.
